Chiropractors use a wide range of techniques and therapies to achieve desired results. Below is a list of the techniques and therapies that Dr. Kara commonly uses in her practice.
Diversified Technique – Chiropractic Adjustments
This is the most common chiropractic technique used where a quick thrust is delivered to the joint restriction. Utilizing this technique allows chiropractors to efficiently and effectively reduce joint stiffness and pain while restoring joint function and increasing mobility.
A handheld adjusting instrument which delivers a gentle impulse into the vertebral segments of the spine, or the extremities that are restricted. This is a great alternate technique for populations that require gentle adjustments such as pediatrics or seniors.
Cranial techniques work to restore proper function to the nervous system and proper balance to the cranium. This technique is mostly utilized for infants and small children. Common reasons why this technique is used with infants are latching/feeding difficulties and flat head syndrome.
Myofascial Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy enhances the release of the interfaces between the neural tissues, fascia, skin, ligaments, muscles and tendons. It has been shown to relax muscles, release trigger points, improve lymphatic flow, increase local circulation and release scar tissue adhesions.
Graston therapy is an instrument assisted therapy that is utilized for the treatment of scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation. This allows for faster recovery while eliminating pain and restoring normal function.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are the result of stressed tissue (muscle) that often result in pain and tightness. This technique requires alternating between pressure and release cycles to release constricted muscles.
At Home Rehab
At home stretches and exercises are a crucial part of recovery. The work that is done in office must be supported in every day life to ensure a fast recovery and prevention of injury in the future.
Nutrition Counselling / Supplementation
Many health issues are caused by the foods we eat or are missing from our diet. When indicated, Dr. Kara will suggest specific foods and/or supplements to help tackle your current health complaints.
